Re: [FCP-L] Semi OT: Booking a DI

pretty sure that one's been inspired by this piece;

"Booking An Audio Session"
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVPkm5zE6QI>

this is probably funnier,
but given it's based on Ad industry "Creatives", there's a bit more
scope.

[FCP-L] Using custom Master Templates in a shared edit environment??

Hey everybody

Is there a way to use a Master Template I created and have it not show up as offline on other edit systems? We're running FCP 7 with MetaSAN here, all media on the shared drives.

I created a new Master Template, cut it into my show several times and happily re-edited the text from with FCP. Now, the assistant opens up the sequence, and all those title/graphics are offline.

I know I can save normal Motion files to the shared drives (MetaSAN) and have it work just fine...but when I copied the Master Template file out of the Library directory where it gets saved by default and re-imported it, the ability to edit the copy from within FCP is lost.

What's the workaround? Surely series-wide elements are what these templates are built for...

[FCP-L] Exported file date modified issue

Have any of you seen where an exported QT file will change it's date
modified just by opening the file in FCP? The files are finished
shows and only being opened, looked at then closed. There is no re-
exporting of the file or any editing done.

Other details:
XSan 1.X.X environment (will find out exact version)
Mixed Leopard and Tiger installs
FCP 6.0.5 & 6.0.6 work stations

[FCP-L] ISO Multi Screen editor (repost from LA Producer's list)

This was posted on the LA producer's list. I don't anything more than what is in this post:

ISO:  Multi Screen Editor
Posted by: "tracyt63" tracy@cobaltbluefilms.com   tracyt63
Mon Nov 9, 2009 4:30 pm (PST)

Hello Everyone..

I'm still looking for submissions of multi-screen editors. I've received a couple of resumes but would love to see more choices before making making a decision.

This is a non-union gig for a 5 screen show. Rate is comparable for themed entertainment. We are looking for an editor who has multi-screen experience, is VERY easy to get along with and handles multiple changes with ease, who can create our animatic and if he/she has music video experience - all the better.

This is a great opportunity for an editor to think outside the box and push their skills as well. The final product is the feature movie at the USA Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo opening May 1 2010.

Please respond only to my email, do not post to group.

Tracy Thomas
Head Media Producer
USA Pavilion 2010 Shanghai World Expo

Thanks again for all your advice. Now let's get back to editing.

Hi Kerry,

> Am I simply being too sentimental?
No. I guess it's just normal behavior of Mac fans! ;)

> Is it time to retire this old horse?
If you need a computer for work - YES, replace it (before Bob Z. destroys it)!
But for personal use it is probably fine. Or give it to your wife / kids (if you have), other relatives or anyone else who needs a computer. A PowerBook or MacBook with an AirPort card is great - me, my wife, lots of friends and relatives enjoy going online wireless since years! :) And for sure that's what my kids get in a few years when they're old enough!

I'm still having a G3 PowerBook (stunning 333MHz!) with an AirPort card (11Mb) at home and use it from time to time, although the battery is dead. I don't have a wired network at home so AirPort is great and I can plug in the power supply wherever I am at home, so it's fine for me! :)

And yes, I must be crazy to have at least 15 Macs (that I don't use regularly or some of them no more) at home - a few of the are even NuBus machines. But I just can't throw them away and it's fun to show people how computers looked like and worked years ago..
