[FCP-L] Re: TC Breaks with some decks - this is the answer for your Panasonic VTR's

Forgot to mention this helps on Sony decks too, like the J30SDI.

Or go to the files section of this group and find the file there download it and follow Bob's instructions. By the way how do you upload files to the file area?

Re: [FCP-L] Re: TC Breaks with some decks - this is the answer for your Panasonic VTR's

Curtis,

the Panasonic D455 is a big problem with the AJA products. There is a patch that AJA has for this machine.
You can have AJA email it to you, and you install it in FCP, or you can follow what I tell you here -

open TextEdit in Apple Applications, and create this file (start typing now)

// Enabler to disable alternate ETT polling mechanism

startuponly
FileVersion(60243, 41391, 68)
code

dictput(0,"kgDeviceControl","useAltETTPolling","value");

ok, stop typing

save this file (SAVE AS) - file name is
DisableAltETTPolling.txt

drag this file into
library/applications support/fcp system support/plugins
and you will have no more problems with your Panasonic D455 VTR.

Re: [FCP-L] OT: Elgato Turbo 264 HD question

The presets are for devices like iPhone, iTouch, AppleTV,Sony PSP and
all output is h.264.
You would need to use the Turbo 264 software and set up a preset for
what you want.
In the older non HD version setting up the preset is still not
available in FCP.

The stock presets are available in FCP if you,
Export using Quicktime Conversion,
Select, "Elgato Turbo 264" from the Format drop down,
Use one of the presets, iPod Small, iPhone, iPod Best, Apple TV, or
Sony PSP.
There may be some other presets for the Turbo 264 HD that will not
work on my G5 so I can't be completely accurate.
But you can see on your setup the same way.

[FCP-L] Re: OT: Elgato Turbo 264 HD question

Yes that would be an issue.
CompressHD is a card.
Matrox MXO2Mini can also have the "Max" technology and can be used with a laptop with Express slot but those are "thinning down" in Apple's MacBookPro lineup.

Now if Matrox would make a firewire 800 version . . .
Or Apple would get the importance of including an Express slot on at least the top of the line iMac . . .

I use Matrox CompressHD. It's faster than real time and the codec looks great. It works in both Apple Compressor and Telestream Episode so you can their respective filters. I haven't used Elgato Turbo but I suspect CompressHD is "better" but of course it costs significantly more.
