Re: [FCP-L] Re: OT: Dead Ti-Book, should I repair?

I'd say, if your time is free, and only if your time is free, you
could simply get another hard drive and put it in yourself. Should be
worth the 80 bucks or you might pay to have a machine that is somewhat
workable. I usually buy hard drives at mwave.com, they have the
cheapest prices.

Do not spend more than $80.00 in, is my advice.

Re: [FCP-L] Re: OT: Dead Ti-Book, should I repair?

Awww, Bob. Many of us have fond memories of our G4s and the profits
they made. It's hard to layoff, much less kill, a good trouper.

Bill (nursing 2 G4s) Affleck

And before you ask: I'm trying to retire and my money is better
spent elsewhere these days, like prescriptions!

If you give me your address, I will come over with a hammer, and beat the
crap out of your "first MAC", and show you how
much emotion I have over your first 8 year old investment. It makes me
warm all over, just knowing that anything you buy today to
replace this "old horse" will NEVER last 8 years anymore. No more long
investements for you - -EVER. You will spend, and spend and spend,
over and over and over again (and so will your clients) or you won't stay in
this business very long.

[FCP-L] Re: A Request

A bit OT, but after checking out The Door Post Film Project, I'm very
intrigued as to where their funding comes from. The standard PR fluff is
very. fluffy.

Does anyone know any more?

[FCP-L] OT: Dead Ti-Book, should I repair?

The hard drive on my almost 8-year old Ti-Book died last week. It was
replaced last in 2005 just before its AppleCare expired. It's second battery
no longer lets me use it off of the grid. Although it was originally my
editing computer (FCP 3 since upgraded to 5), the fact that it doesn't run
Motion kept me from using it except for the most elementary projects. I
can't recall the last time I used it for FCP.

The hinge is flaky, so the screen will occasionally go black and I'll have
to close the top and re-open it to get the screen to display. Still, I am
inclined to replace the hard drive and continue to use it just for e-mails
and web browsing at home, although I have an iMac in my home office. Am I
simply being too sentimental? Is it time to retire this old horse? (As
already stated, the HD was replaced once as was the battery, and the screen
replaced once.)

The one thing that it offers me is a machine to continue to run FCP 5 on
when I bring home work from my clients that have yet to upgrade to FCS 2 or
3. Otherwise I just use my iMac for my own editing.

Any thoughts?

Kerry

[FCP-L] Re: OT: Anybody want ten thousand used IMX tapes?

And by the way, since you brought it up, we have several cases of NEW IMX
tape if anyone is using the format.

We also have quite a bit of new SX.
