Yeah, but check out the price $150?
ouch
Maybe I¹ve been spoiled by the availability of less expensive apps, but that
does seem expensive.
Nice editing capability, though.

Easiest & fastest thing I've found is to bypass FCP entirely. Download the free "Audio Recorder", crank up the settings (default sucks), and make aiff files straight into the Mac. Clean, quick & perfect.

YUP, and that's just the beginning, Apple will soon have a version of
iMovie that will ship with the phone, the real power of this is that
you can immeadiatly upload to a UTube channel, Why, you could even do
your own tonight show. The upcoming Apple Slate, takes this to a new
dimension.

Re: [FCP-L] VO Tool in FCP

Double check your system pref audio pane...make sure audio in and audio out
both are set to the Kona card. Then in the VO window make sure the popup is
set correctly. On my system when the usb mic is connected, the popup
reveals a setting called ³ak5370², which makes the whole thing work.

At US$ 189 at ain't cheap, there are other free Apps that have similar
functions but not as elegant, granted audio only, but there are video
Apps out there that do the same thing.
But make no mistake, you have seen glimpse of the future. How far will
it go is the question you have to ask yourself? and will it effect my

Re: [FCP-L] final cut pro on an iPHONE? Almost

I could see the iPhone being a pretty good audio recorder (with a good
microphone), and perhaps "good enough" at times for ENG video recording.

But will you ever be faster editing on an iPhone than on a laptop
(even if you grew up sending 3000 text messages a day)?

OK, maybe if you are just stringing 3-5 clips together...

Though yes, TECHNICALLY (i.e. legally) you need to buy the $169 Mac Box Set for a machine running Tiger. As far as that's concerned, you could just as well install Snow on the old machine via Target Mode on the newer machine with the Snow disk that came with it. If you're fine with that... go for it.

Apple: "With Snow Leopard, iLife '09, and iWork '09 all in one box, the Mac Box Set is the best way to upgrade your Mac experience, **especially if you're still using Mac OS X Tiger**."

[FCP-L] Building our freelance list (LA)

We're looking for Los Angeles based FREELANCE Avid and FCP editors, as
well as protools mixers and dialog/sfx editors, to add to our
freelance list. This is planning in ADVANCE, not for projects in the
next few weeks, unfortunately. We want to enlarge our freelance pool
so we have more resources next year. We do a variety of projects,
and need both creative and technical freelance talent from time-to-time.

Please email off list, Dave (at) SecretHQ (dot) com, if you're a
freelancer and have time to come by for a cup of coffee- we're
convenient to Hollywood and the west side, in Culver City. We are NOT
staffing at this time, simply meeting a few new resources.
Traditionally slow December is a great time for meet-and-greets.

Re: [FCP-L] Upgrading to Snow Leopard

Actually, upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard is $169. So there is
some money involved to get a second install disk for the old computer.

No, you can't. Neither technically (tied to machine ID) nor legally. But at $29 for an official upgrade matters could be worse.

[FCP-L] Upgrading to Snow Leopard

I am going to purchase the new iMac Intel computer, which comes with
Snow Leopard installed. However, I also need to upgrade my current
iMac Intel OS which is still running Tiger. Does anyone know if I
can use the Snow Leopard install disk that comes with the new iMac
computer to upgrade the old one, or do I have to purchase a separate
upgrade OS?

Re: [FCP-L] VO Tool in FCP

Thanks everyone... it wasn't working last night when I went home but when I fired it up this AM it worked... one of those mysteries of FCP I guess.

Re: [FCP-L] VO Tool in FCP

Yes, what Jeff said.

In my experience you may have to swap to another input and back to your USB mic a couple of times in the VO tool before FCP figures out what you want it to do.

Re: [FCP-L] VO Tool in FCP

Change the Audio input in system prefs to any OTHER source then the one desired. Apply, then change it back.. should wake it back up.

Probably an obvious question, but did you check system preferences to make sure the USB mic is the input device in the preferences also? I use a USB mic all the time for temp VOs on my videos without any issues.

[FCP-L] VO Tool in FCP

I've used the VO Tool a few years ago through a mixer and into a Kona... but I am at a place that uses a USB mic into FCP for temp VO.

Its not working and I must be missing as step.

I can see signal on the meter so know my signal is getting in through the mic and correct input is selected.

I set record area in the seq with in and out points.

I hit record, countdown starts.

Then... nothing shows on the meter when I speak and when I stop recording, nothing appears in the timeline.

Re: [FCP-L] "Master clip not present" annoyance

Ooh, wait. I did pull over the producer's "rough edits" from his sloppy
project into my own. (shit)

He didn't make new sequences, he duped the project.

Am I screwed?
