Re: [FCP-L] OL A Request- now Butterfly Circus

the great thing is, it won top prize. i hope to see more from the
director sooner rather than later..

the Rift was pretty well done too.. a few odd camera movements or
framings, but the story telling was pretty darn good, and the
execution of it just as well..

I'll bet it can also be used as a deembedder to break out audio to a betasp. I'm doing that in a pinch with a digibeta.

We've got some of those too, if you want more!

At least those decks will playback digibeta, so we can use 'em as feeders for making dubs.
(Still need standard def dubs for delivery requirement).

Re: [FCP-L] Re: Looking for budget transcription

What about finding a local kid - maybe a high school girl (or boy)
with years of speed text messaging skills - and pay her $5 an hour to
do the transcription on her computer. Or if you've got an unemployed
neighbor, they may be willing to do it cheaply.

I'm going to have to try again. Thanks for verifying that it should
work. The ball's in my court now.

I would be, except that it didn't work for me and did work for you.
Under the circumstances, I must suspect operator error. :0

That it definitely did. I'll need to try the whole thing again and
triple check everything. I'm thinking there might have been something
wrong with my destination. Because it did not return an error, I
might not have checked to see that my destination was valid.

Because I've had similar problems in the past, I might not have tried
hard enough.

[FCP-L] Re: iMac & HDMI

Hi Matthias

You can use a Matrox MXO to output HD/SD SDI (using a Mini DIsplay Port to DVI adaptor in order to connect the device to the iMac) ... although please note that at present Matrox don't have a qualified Snow Leopard driver for the MXO (I think they might be still waiting on support from Apple to enable the MXO to work properly under Snow Leopard)

You can also use a Motu V4HD to output HD/SD SDI or HDMI (using the Firewire 800 connection to connect the device to the iMac) ... the Motu apparently allows daisy chaining FW800 devices so you still have a viable media capture/storage solution.

Best
Andy

[FCP-L] Re: Final Cut Studio (2009): Best Practices for creating title graphics

Philip,

Note that this is related to custom menus for the Share method of
creating DVDs in FCP or Compressor and NOT menus or graphics to be
used in iDVD or DVD SP. Essentially these would be custom backgrounds
or logos.

At least in the NTSC case, this is actually 1/2 of the vertical
resolution of a 720x540 file, which would be one option for square
pixel graphics. So either they are using field-resolution graphics for
custom menus, or the document writer got totally confused between
fields and frames.

[FCP-L] iMac & HDMI

Hi all,

I am planning to run FCP 6 on the new Quad-Core iMac. During the editing
I'd like to see the Canvas on a seperate screen. AJA Kona f.e. can feed
a screen via SDI or Composite. Is there a pice of hardware fitting to
iMac, beeing able to feed my Screen via HDMI? It not: via SDI?

Thanks - Matthias

Re: [FCP-L] Final Cut Studio (2009): Best Practices for creating title graphics for use in the DVD setting of the Share feature

It's the resolution you want to use when encoding a "scope" movie for
a 16:9 enhanced (NTSC) DVD.

The resolution of the actual film frame is just about 720 x 480 for a
"Flat (1.85:1) film and 720 x 380 for a "scope" (2.35:1) film.
Contrast those resolutions with the corresponding ones for a
*letterbox* presentation (720 x 330 for flat and 720 x 270 for scope)
and you'll reap the benefits in particular with 16:9 televisions.
