You can use a Matrox MXO to output HD/SD SDI (using a Mini DIsplay Port to DVI adaptor in order to connect the device to the iMac) ... although please note that at present Matrox don't have a qualified Snow Leopard driver for the MXO (I think they might be still waiting on support from Apple to enable the MXO to work properly under Snow Leopard)
You can also use a Motu V4HD to output HD/SD SDI or HDMI (using the Firewire 800 connection to connect the device to the iMac) ... the Motu apparently allows daisy chaining FW800 devices so you still have a viable media capture/storage solution.
