Isn't Panasonic just adding to the confusion by referring to their cameras that record just one or the other, all as AVCCAM?

Going back to LT is the only way to do it properly. I assume you imported the LT project into FCP. It should be easy enough to Open in Editor and tweak it

Using just regular DATA compression (e.g. Stuffit, Zip etc.) would/ could probably produce even smaller results and you obviously don?t get any degradation
