I've got the latest version of Squeeze. There's a lot of cool stuff
implemented in it. It looks better and is faster than Squeeze 5. I
think there are plenty of presets. The product is pretty radically
different than it was three or four years ago. They have done some
stuff with what they call "publishing" which is pretty interesting as
far as workflow is concerned and it has batching features too. You can
set up watch folders and have stuff automatically uploaded to an ftp
site of your choice at the end of an encode with an email that goes
out to a client at the end of the upload. Completely unsupervised.
I did a review of the last version of Squeeze before the current
version. THe current version is 6 and I reviewed 5.5. 6 has some more
cool stuff than 5.5, but 5.5 is closer to where they are now than
probably when you last saw them "many years ago." I'd definitely
suggest you give them another look.
I occasionally use Compressor still, but only when I want a specific
preset that I know I can just drop on in Compressor.
