Re: [FCP-L] OT Compressor Strip CC

When you export in FCP vs compressor, you can choose to have the file
use your current sequence settings or you can choose to have it re-
compress every frame in the sequence when you export. All of our show
exports go through Captioning and the file is re-embedded with new
captions. The problem we have had in the past if we use previously
captioned flattened show files as elements in a new show, the
captioning can cause a problem when they get redone. The new
captioning won't stick or there is some corruption from using the old
captioned file as an element. So stripping or removing the captioning
before putting them into the new sequence will help save time on the
renders as I can then just use current sequence settings vs. re-
rendering every frame. I'm interested in seeing what FCP 7 offers on
the captioning front, but Apples articles or instructions in the
manual are pretty thin. Since most of our edit stations are still
thumping away on 6.0.6, FCP 7 is still a glimmer in the future. Hope
this makes a little more sense.
