Re: [FCP-L] Broadcast Monitor

I haven't seen this round of Panasonic Monitors yet but it would have to be a lot better than the ones I saw a couple years ago, don't remember the model number. They became popular because they supported a lot of different formats and had a crude waveform but the picture just blew. For people to be suggesting these new Pannys must mean they are really a step up from a couple years ago. Can somebody confirm this?

1:1 mapping isn't CRUCIAL. And I stand by this monitor being better
than the Panasonic models. But the one you mention is higher priced
than the one I mentioned. if you want a good comparison, then I'd
look at the FSI 2450W. That IS 1:1 pixel mapping for 1080i signals,
and around $5000.

The question was bang for the buck, and I think that the 1760W at
$2500 is a great deal.

I just worked with a Panasonic BT-LH2550 26ish-inch LCD that has 1920x1080
one-to-one pixel mapping. Looked good. WFM and scope were bigger and higher
resolution than on some older Panasonics that I've seen. However, this was
on a stage, not in post. The DP seemed happy, but I was focusing on
somehting else. We didn't look at SD images. $5000.

I think someone else on FCP-L or Avid-L2 tried and liked that monitor.

front of me. What's the best bang for your buck HD/SD switchable
broadcast monitor capable of 1080 on the market at the moment? There's

Re: [FCP-L] Add an effect layer to a sequence!

Although that is not a bad idea, one has to be careful of clips with more
than one effect. The order of effects may affect the final look. For
instance, if you are going to use a Widescreen Matte, you probably want that
to be last so that if you apply any color correction, it doesn't affect the
black matte.

It also becomes more of a hassle if you want to change the effect. If you
add your Vignette to a clip with other filters and paste it onto clips with
other filters, what do you do if you want to change the Vignette? You will
have to manually go to each clip to remove or modify the outdated effect.

If all you need is a vignette, then you can simply make it in Photoshop and superimpose it. Either via an alpha or b/w, composited via "Darken". Or even just use a Gradient generator directly in FCP the same way.

Or, if you don't have a massive amount of V-tracks, set the filter up for one and apply it to the rest (e.g. as a favorite)... in which case you should of course be sure you won't be changing it again. :) (which is why the first option is surely the better)

A NEST is not the way you want to go IMO, either way, since they tend to want to render and/or drop frames and also adds an extra level of annoying UN-transparency to fiddle with.

The nested sequence should always update the final.

I just finished a half hour show, the center 20 minutes of which, was a
nested sequence. Whenever I lengthened or shortened the original, the final
show rippled to reflect those changes.

Just remember that when you want to open the nested sequence in the Viewer,
you need to right-click it. If you double-click, it will open in the
timeline.

[FCP-L] "Master clip not present" annoyance

I keep getting "master clip not present" when trying to reveal a clip in the
browser.

I did have to relink media on this job, but this is getting to be a PITA.

Anyone have a quick and easy way to help me resolve this?

[FCP-L] Add an effect layer to a sequence!

Hi group!
I would like to add the "vignette" effect to my entire sequnce like I can do
in Avid with an effect layer.

Can this be done in FCP of do I have to use nested sequences?
