Would it be possible to use Preferences Manager to save the properly
operating preferences from one user and restore them to your profile?
And, if everything else fails, what about creating a brand new user profile
for yourself and, basically, starting from scratch, or copying the properly
operating user profile, change the name to yours and then adjusting whatever
you need to be different.
Just grasping at straws here.
