And how can you be sure that it's exclusively a matter of the amount
of addressable memory? As I said, if the overall underpinnings of FCP
would change *first* (e.g. it were 100% Cocoa), then it would make
more sense since 95+% of FCP is essentially 10 year old *OS 9* code
and I'm thinking that alone would make a huge difference in overall
performance.
Mind you, I'm not saying a 64bit FCP would NEVER make sense! But
rather slapping a 64bit "plug-in" on the *current version* wouldn't
make a whole lotta sense. There's far more to "fix"... but maybe the
true coders amongst us would completely disagree... but somehow I
doubt it.
And I recently did a 86 min. ProRes HQ HD project and can't say it was
the *perfect* experience, but I also didn't experience any "choking".
But I also meant to say "4K" not "HD" by the way.
And who are these subliminal "us"? :-D
