Sorry, but welcome to reality. Some media is better because it is better optimized for the Intels. I tend to agree that the differnce isn't as great at the processing speed difference might lead you to believe. I say that from the perspective of having both types of machines. I think if you actually benchmarked these, renders and encodes are faster, but not by as much as we would all like.
How much RAM do you have? Which gfx card? What codecs/media? What type of hard drives?
