Yes that would be an issue.
CompressHD is a card.
Matrox MXO2Mini can also have the "Max" technology and can be used with a laptop with Express slot but those are "thinning down" in Apple's MacBookPro lineup.
Now if Matrox would make a firewire 800 version . . .
Or Apple would get the importance of including an Express slot on at least the top of the line iMac . . .
