actually the Media Manager should work.
at times in the past, it has not been able to trim offline media,
from memory, this happened twice in point zero releases,
but was fixed both times,
and in fact it works now in FCP 7.0
the problem as far as i can see is that the OP is NOT using the Media
Manager.
Peter, select the sequence in the browser,
open Media manager.
use "Create Offline" mode
Delete Unused
add handles to taste
base media file names on: Clip Names (my recommendation for "create
offline", makes it easier if subclips were used in the edit)
make sure everything with the word "included" is un-ticked.
it should work.
