I just recently got taught this one after having the same struggle
you're having:
Just put markers at each still, which I think you can name, too. Just
hit m to set the marker and m again to open the naming dialog.
When you've got a clip with all the markers you need, drag it to the
browser where it should show up with a triangle.
I'm not sure you have to do this next step, but I use it. Make a new
bin, which I name something like Export stills.
Back to the clip in the browser, reveal the markers by twirling the
reveal triangle.
Select all the markers and drag them to the Export bin.
Select them and control click to get the contextual menu with 'batch
export'. They show up in the browser in an "Export Queue."
Use the dialog to specify the destination folder and the file format
you want to create.
Then I use the 'Export' button at the bottom of the browser.
The stills should be in the folder in Finder.
