HTML 5 brings nothing to the production table, and production is the

pushed MP4 H.264 pretty much exclusively for the last five years. .MOV
for distribution has been deprecated completely.
But HTML 5 doesn't help with anything mentioned in that article.
Color "bypasses QT" because it was never designed to work with QT.
(Nor for that matter was Shake. QT support was added by Apple after
they purchased it.)
QT is, however in the process of a compete makeover across the next
couple of OS uprades. QT X (ten) is the first attempt. Think OS 9 to
OS X transition. 10.0 lost a lot we'd been used to.
