Thanks. I think it's too early to tell. Remember that Autodesk seems to work off of far smaller numbers than Avid or Apple to be successful. The interesting thing is that this product becomes the de facto, mythical "Final Cut Extreme". It satisfies that need and actually takes some heat off of Apple. It becomes a win-win for Apple, because they'll get the hardware sale and may still sell another seat of FC Studio.
One interesting thing to consider is that the sweet spot would probably be a place with 4 or 5 FCP bays hooked to Xsan. These suites would typically all be equipped as "finishing" rooms. If you installed a Smoke on Mac room as the "hero" suite, you could actually cut back on some of the bells-and-whistles in the other rooms. That in and of itself would partially offset the higher cost of the Smoke room.
