Weird glitch. Rendering or exporting causes the footage to slip 3 or
more seconds. What?!?
I got some 3 GB HDV files from a client's client's video funhouse.
They're full-size, but are both mashed into WMV files. (I'm guessing
Adobe Premiere on a PC.) I'm editing ProRes (SD) and have converted
these files to ProRes in Compressor. Now when I cut them into a
sequence they are properly positioned. BUT when I render, the footage
in the clip slips backwards at 3 or more seconds. (I haven't measured
them all yet).
I tried breaking the render and exporting, Reference or Self-
Contained, and it still shifts. No sound recorded to compare. I'm
going to test the WMVs directly (Flip4Mac import delays), then try
reconverting select footage by hand into other formats, try to strip
timecode, etc.
Any ideas?? VITC/LTC or DF calculation error? Lots of troubleshooting
ahead.
